[June 2023]
Hi. After a hectic season of moving homes, graduating and catching up with family, I just returned to my new home. My parents and I went on a graduation trip to New York – my favorite city in the world, that I’d never been to. This was my first time, and it was somehow more than what I expected. It was magical, beautiful, raw and so very much real. The city was absolutely a concrete jungle, and sure, it wasn’t the cleanest place to be – but I truly felt something unique & some would say – unearthly. You could just feel that infinite dreams that held this city together – you could see a life like no other. I felt a different level of enthusiasm, joy, livelihood and gratitude.
I am so grateful for the support of my family behind me, supporting me and encouraging me as I start my journey into the real world. I’m grateful to have had an upbringing that taught me to do what is right, be honest and help others. It’s high time that I pay it forward and give back to my new community here in Vancouver. I’m eager to take action and create change in meaningful ways – time for lipservice to end.
With that being said, now that I’m back, NYC feels like a fever dream, yet I genuinely cannot wait to be back. The 3 short days filled me to the brim with a feeling I’d been craving and a glimmer of hope that the world is so much bigger than what we think it to be. And a home doesn’t have to confine you – it could inspire, challenge and hold you. NYC might just be the place for me. Give me 5 years. I will make it my home.
