Focusing in

TLDR:

  • your worth comes from your strengths – make it a mission to find your gift and operate in that space
  • i am the highlight of my life
  • i’m so incredibly curious right now – and i want to honor that hunger to learn as much as I can
  • You’re not less than if you don’t have the same strengths as someone else

“The more you push yourself into a direction that is not intuitively aligned with you and your inclination, the less you attract what’s meant for you.”

Today was a beautiful day. I met with 2 close friends, and through our conversations, I came to some profound realizations about my thoughts, my reactions and the mindset I want to have going forward.

As it’s been obvious, at work lately I’ve been feeling “less than”. Maybe this is an understatement or an over exaggeration, I’m still not sure, but I know I’ve been living in my head for a while and that thoughts been looming in there with me rent-free. Looking around me, I’m surrounded my accomplished, well-spoken, experienced individuals who seem to know it all. Or at least seem like they do. And as they continue to figure out their way, I get stumped at how far ahead they seem or far behind I seem – in particular aspects at least. See, the bad thing about always focusing on your weaknesses, is that you forget all your strengths. And sometimes, this constant fixation can lead you to believe that you are your weaknesses. When in reality, you are all but your weaknesses, my friend. You are your strengths. Your strengths represent your gifts, your natural inclinations, where you feel like you shine best. And if you turned your attention to those strengths for a second, you might just find your gift. And by honing your gift, you enable yourself to operate in a space that honors your growth.

And you do this, by focusing on you. Paying attention to what you’re good at – positive self talk and being your own cheerleader.

my kinda afternoon

It’s very easy to look at other people and say they’re amazing at what they do, and that you could never get there. But what if they’re amazing at what they do because that’s their gift? What if you’re witnessing them at their best, operating in their space that lets them shine most? What if you focused on your path to find your space? Your worth doesn’t change based on a light shining on other people. You need to be the highlight of your own life, to allow you to shine regardless. This consistency is what’ll be the energy that attracts all that is meant for you. The more you push yourself into a direction that is not intuitively aligned with you and your inclination, the less you attract what’s meant for you. And as said in Aquaman (I just watched it tonight but don’t quote me), “sometimes it might feel like you don’t know what you’re doing – but just follow your instincts, and you’ll be led right there“.

I also realized that I’m in a phase of my life where I’m incredibly curious about a plethora of things. I want to learn about the fight for womens rights, I want to learn about how to be my authentic self in the workplace, I am curious about some of my tendencies, and most of all, I’m curious about the world out there. I honestly can’t stop thinking about the Poor Things movie – how she let her curiosity lead the way, and she fearlessly ventured out into the world out there. It’s an incredibly interesting place to be in, and instead of suppressing it, I’ve decided to let it flow. I’m excited. I cannot wait to travel and explore all that world has to offer, because this one short life we have, is the only one worth fighting for.
