Move out of your own way

“No one can take your power from you, but you. “

Her, Feb 2024

Hi fam,

I have a couple new updates.

Number 1, I went ice skating SOLO yesterday!! It was such a fun journey – I really loved trying something new out, and on the way, I met new friends too! They were first year kids from kinesiology! It was really nice to just do something new. And I’ve been wanting to go skating since november, but I was just waiting for someone to go with me. But why? Why not just do it on your own? Sometimes, I really think I’m holding myself back at the end of the day. On friday, I went to hangout with my roommate, and we ended up talking for hours and watching love is blind sweden – so so so interesting! And I just loved dissecting our lives together haha. It’s fun to share with friends.

me in my skates! I fell THRICE LOL

And today, I worked a bit in the morning, then went for a galentines celebration! I met some old friends, and some new ones too – and I had very inspiring conversations. I really enjoyed just catching up and playing a game of trivia (that we WON! thanks to my amazing partner, Nicole), and having some good finger food (I mean popcorn haha). I know this sounds very surface level-y and just a bit “whatever”, but it’s all I can think of right now in terms of life events.

In terms of what’s been on my mind, I’ve been thinking about how I (and presumably others) stand in my (our) own way (s). There’s a lot of instances in my life where I know I can excel, but it’s almost like there’s a voice or another person in front of me that just appears and says “who are you to show up? how do you know what you’re saying? who are you to say anything?”, that shuts me up. I’m not sure if others feel the same way, but it really ramps up the nerves and affects my progress. But I’ve realized this is just you holding yourself back. And especially when, my aim is to reach my potential and be the best version of myself. So here are the actions to transform the mindset:

  • Preparation: When you’ve practiced, you know your stuff, tell yourself that. Affirm it. Know you will do it.
  • Surround yourself by strong women and be inspired: That’s exactly how I felt today, amid such talented women. They’re fearless, and so am I. Time to unleash her.
  • Turn anxiety into excitement: Be excited to be able to present yourself, show your authentic self and show what you’ve come up with. Be proud of it.
  • Fully immerse yourself: That’s what it means to be present. Just be here. You’re feeling your feels. You’re taking the actions. You’re in control – no one else! Cherish it.

Unleash the inner queen. No one can take your power from you, but you. I can do this. I got this. I’m here to spread knowledge and share what I learn. And sometimes, you have to learn to let it go and just flow. Let it be. All you can do is what you’ve done.
